Meet Dr. David Opresnik, Chiropractor

He started his practice in January 2000 and is grateful to have a career helping people every day.

He became credentialed in Active Release Techniques in 1998 and has been using soft tissue therapies in combination with joint manipulation ever since.

This has aided him in treating a wide variety of conditions: from sports-related injuries such as tendinosis to the repetitive strain and postural problems that occur with prolonged computer use.

Dr. Opresnik also incorporates the use of kinesiotape and instrument assisted Graston techniques into his treatment as clinically warranted.

He especially likes treating shoulder injuries, as the improvements can be rapid and stabilized well with rehabilitative exercises.

Chiropractic Care in Calgary with Dr. Opresnik

Chiropractic care provided is comprehensive with a focus on the neuro-musculoskeletal system – a hands-on approach is taken to restore proper function to the spine, extremities and associated muscular system.

Treatment goals are discussed, and a treatment plan tailored to each patients’ specific needs is formulated. No two people are alike, so your treatment plan will be designed for you with your specific goals in mind.

The Diversified Chiropractic Technique encompasses a variety of treatments such as specific manual manipulation, trigger point therapy and soft tissue therapy.

Active Release Therapy is a soft tissue system and movement-based massage technique that treats problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves.

The Graston Technique ® incorporates an evidence-based form of instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization used to effectively detect and treat scar tissue and restrictions that affect normal function.

The technique uses stainless steel instruments to comb over and “catch” on fibrotic tissue, which immediately identifies the areas of restriction. Once the tissue has been identified, the instruments are used to break up the scar tissue, increase the rate and amount of blood flow to and from the area and increase cellular activity in the region.

The Graston technique will help prevent an acute condition from becoming chronic. The result of treatment is decreased pain and increased function.

These techniques can be used to treat:

  • Sprains and strains causing neck pain
  • Low back pain
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Tennis elbow
  • Golfer’s elbow
  • Rotator cuff injuries
  • Knee injuries such as patellofemoral disorders
  • Achilles tendinitis
  • Shin splints
  • Scar tissue
  • Trigger points

Chiropractic treatment may include the following:

  • Spinal manipulation
  • Stretching
  • Soft tissue therapy
  • Ice
  • Heat
  • Exercise and nutrition recommendations

If X-rays, ultrasounds, or other imaging is necessary, you will be referred to a public Diagnostic Imaging facility near you.

Custom Foot Orthotics

An orthotic is a device worn inside a shoe that is used to control the biomechanical movements of the foot and lower limb during movement.

People who experience symptoms of foot, lower limb and lower back problems may benefit from custom-built orthotics.

Orthotics may be prescribed to correct or aid with the reduction of load, motion control and alignment, immobilization and support, and to correct deformities.
